One of the sunniest seaside resorts in England,
Folkestone is enormously popular with Concorde International students who
have been visiting the town for over 20 years.
Situated on the south coast, the town has a colourful harbour, sandy
beach, amusement park and lots of leisure facilities for young people.
Folkestone's 'Garden Coast' offers a safe and green environment. The town
shopping centre is mainly pedestrian, and for those who want the ultimate
shopping experience; Europe's largest shopping plaza at Bluewater is just
a short drive a way.
The School
Located in a pleasant residential area and set in spacious grounds with
playing fileds, the school provides security and easy access routes to
London.
There is a large hall for student meetings, drama sessions and 'Language
in Action' workshops. All classrooms are large and well decorated.
The full day excursion to London is one of the summer school highlights.
The capital is only 90 minutes away and students have time to see the main
attractions, visit a museum or take a river trip on the Thames.
For more information on the school, visit the Web site: www.shepway.gov.uk
Sports facilities
Swimming, tennis, basketball and football are all available at the town's
excellent sports centre - it even has a dry ski slope!
Overlooking the East Cliff and sands is the pitch-and-putt golf course,
popular with students of every age.

Accommodation
-
RESIDENTIAL
The attractive boarding houses boast modernised and brightly decorated
bedrooms. Each house has ample showers and bathrooms, pleasant,
comfortable common rooms with TV/video and a games room where students
can relax together.
Students mostly share rooms with two or three other students and soon
make friends. There are also larger rooms which can accommodate up to
6 students.
-
HOST FAMILY
Most of our host families in Folkestone live within walking distance
of the school and really enjoy looking after our students.
The family will provide a picnic lunch every day. A hot lunch is
available, if preferred, for a small supplement.
