School

How do I get to LTC from the airport?
The easiest way is to let us arrange an airport transfer. When you come out of customs, look for a driver with a sign which has your name on. He will bring you to LTC or your homestay family. Adult students who prefer, can take a bus from Heathrow to Gatwick and a train from Gatwick.

Can I use the fax and email facilities?
Yes, there is a small charge for sending faxes abroad.

Where can I get lunch?
During the summer you can eat at LTC. Outside of the summer there are lots of places nearby where you can buy lunch (you can eat it here).

Do you have self-access facilities?
Yes, we have a lending library for books and cassettes and self-access listening facilities.

General English

What if the class is too difficult?
Speak to your teacher or the Director of Studies. We'll change your class if we need to.

Can I do an examination course?
Yes, you can do a course for FCE or CAE. We can also help you prepare for Cambridge PET, TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS.

What are the ages and nationalities of the other students?
Last year we have had students from Angola, Argentina, Belgium, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Iraq, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Ukraine. In summer the 'biggest' nationalities are Italian and French. 
Students on our adult course are mostly aged 18-25, on our Young Learners Holiday Course aged 10-16.

How many students in a class?
Adult course maximum 12. In summer there are usually 8-10 students per class, outside the summer about 6.

Do you use coursebooks and are they free?
On our adult General English course, yes we do. Yes, they are free.

Accommodation

Do they wash my clothes?
Usually, a weekly wash is free.

Can I have my friends round?
Each family has different rules.

Will there be other students of the same nationality?
Not unless you have asked to stay with friends.

Can I use the phone?
Some families will allow you to use their phone if you have a pre-paid phone card.

What meals will they give me?
Breakfast and dinner during the week and full board at weekends.

Young Learners

How many students will I have to share a room with?
Usually 2 or 3 other students.

How much pocket money should I bring?
It depends how much shopping you want to do! Maybe £50-£100 per week.

What happens if I become ill?
If you need a doctor, we will take you to see one or call a doctor to LTC to see you.

Can I go out on my own?
Only if we have written permission from your parents. We will ask your parents if you are allowed to go out
- in the afternoon
- in the evening
- to visit relatives in England
- to leave the organised group during an excursion
If you go out, you must tell us and say where you are going (and when you will be back).

Who will wash my clothes?
You. We have washing facilities here that the students can use.
